ICYMI: There are a wealth of wonderful new episodes over on Moonbeaming: A deep dive into the 9 of Wands Tarot card where I discuss righteous femme rage through Bjork and Britney, with an additional accompanying episode on stress, the allostatic load, and collective healing with my somatic practitioner Ifé Mora, and another great interview with author Dean Spade. In other words, Moonbeaming is the bomb, this year’s programming is fire, feel free to scroll down and tune into episodes that call to you.
Over at the studio, we’ve had an incredible line-up of offerings as well; catch our workshop for the Highly Sensitive in Relationships, and then sign up for our upcoming Tarot Master Class on the Constellation of 9!
Welcome to the Venus 3x3: a monthly collection of arts, culture, commerce, and practices that have brought me love, joy, glimmers, inspiration and/or a mild rabbit hole obsession. This is a way for me to keep track of all the love in my life.
Read on for 3 things, 3 practices, 3 moments: all orienting around love, pleasure, and life force. This is Collection 3. For Collection 1, go here.
May was REALLY one for the books. The theme of the month was Welcome Your New Life. I can’t tell you how on-point this theme was, as so much new energy flooded into my life, it was a bit overwhelming. May was a blur, in the very best way. I’m still processing all the energetic shifts, flow, openings, synchronicities, and connections. You, too?
3 Things
Vivienne Westwood Snail Bracelet
File this under: things I desperately want but can’t afford and would probably never wear. But! The whimsy! The perfection! The talismanic symbolism! All I am saying is, it’s my birthday soon and if you loved me…you’d find one on E-Bay and buy for me?
The perfect weekender bag
After watching a pro-Palestian video from Telfar, I decided to invest in one of the brand’s bags. I’ve appreciated the Telfar since Ghetto Gothic days, but now that I’m making fewer purchases, albeit more intentionally, it was easier to hit the buy button.
As someone who runs a business and does not shy away from integrity and compassionate politics, more and more, I only want to spend my money on companies doing similar things.
Gentle reader, I jumped up and down when this bag arrived! I actually didn’t know that purchases could even make me happy anymore, but this one did. The perfect weekender bag for your summer travels. I got the large!
Creatine
The age-old, annoying but true statement of: do not judge lest ye be judged really reared its ironic head after I got decimated by Long Covid. I used to be soooo judgemental of “wellness girlies,” to the point of condescending repulsion. Well, in my quest to heal my body, I found myself becoming a supplement-guzzling, protein-gobbling wellness freak myself. When something works, I can feel it. And creatine works. Take it consistently: try it every day for 2 months in the morning.
I use the above brand. Will amino acids be next? It’s probably only a matter of time.
3 Practices
Doing 10% less. This is yet another practice I’ve introduced to my students that has changed my life! In our Secret Studies: Intuition series, we are deep in the conversation with our bodies, energy, and yes, inner-knowing. Can you do 10% less? Push 10% less? Resist 10% less? Give 10% less. A revelation for overgivers, recovering codependents, and type A folks everywhere.
Catching Up And Celebrating How Far You’ve Come. In true 9 fashion, a new theme that has been coming up has been to just rest in where I am, and celebrate how far I’ve come. In my own sessions, and in sessions I’ve been doing to get a somatics certification, the overwhelming message is to not strive, not stretch, not try, but to rest. To acknowledge all that is here, and It’s called integration folks, and it’s what’s on deck for a lot of us. So next time you are in a meditation practice, journaling practice, or energy practice, try saying hello to your current self, and appreciating them.
Group Energy Work. Essentially, I’m Lisa Simpson. If I’m your friend, all I want is to be is goofy, make music, listen to music, talk about feminism, look at art, make art, talk about deep things, send you 6-minute-long voice memos about astrology, hike, hug trees, cuddle animals, do spells and ritual together, and meditation and do energy work together. Sorry not sorry.
Recently, I got to host an energy work session at the studio with my Intuition peeps. 10/10. Energy work is awesome in a group!
3 Moments
Full Circle Moments
It’s been full circle over here. You, too?
Doing some of the best facilitation and healing work of my life through Clear Channels, a Channeling Workshop, and an Intuition Workshop, having one of my healers on my podcast—who saw me at a major rock bottom, and now led my group in a Healing Betrayal workshop, this month felt like a 9. It felt very full circle, end of one cycle, beginning of another.
I don’t really have a “career,” so it’s hard for me to feel like there are “milestones,” like promotions, or a degree. I’ve been trying to collect moments for myself where I feel successful, where my work is doing what I intended, in what I’m creating feels completely MORE than what I needed 5 years ago, 3 years ago…It doesn’t always happen, but this year it is. Adding to this, I have some of the very best team members I have ever had, the application of the perfect marketing strategy for me and having it work, and making more time for hobbies and hangs, and I couldn’t be more grateful. So no, this isn’t one particular memory, but it is a moment I am appreciating and celebrating. I am proud, in awe, and grateful. It took a lot to get here.
Podcast Length Voice Memos
I am also, as always, sending astrology voice memos to my dear cosmic friends Jeff Hinshaw and Anthony Perrotta. Fairly certain they will result in at least 1 new podcast episode. ;)
Plantstock Workshop with Jess Hundley
As a workshop giver, I love nothing more than partaking. Jess Hundley is a powerhouse magician who led the most beautiful, nature-led creative workshop this month at the incredible resource Philosophical Research Society.
That’s it for the month! There’s so much more, which is a good thing.
I’ve really loved sharing these; it’s made me more present, grateful, and ready to collect beautiful experiences.
If this practice is inspiring to you, try it! Side effects include: falling back in love with the world, loving your life, chasing glimmers, and an overall peachy pink love bubble feeling.
What lit you up in May? Comment below.
Perimenopausal over here. Turned 50 last November and started taking creatine two months ago. I feel so much stronger now. I lift weights with a trainer three times a week, and it’s made a huge difference in my strength.
Commenting to chime in and say creatine was a huge helper when I had long COVID. I don’t think it’s what pushed me into remission but it absolutely helped me get there ❤️
